Foreign Projects

Siebert Engineering is active in european and international countries in an advisory capacity.

In 2009, for example, three projects in conjunction with the former GTZ, now GIZ, were carried out in Rwanda. The first project involved a study of the wood and metal industries to analyze the current situation and make suggestions for possible improvements in competitiveness.

The second project involved individual consultations at 5 selected companies in the industry in Kigali and Gisenyi with a focus on the identification of weaknesses in technology and production which significantly affects the competitiveness. The third trip was organized as a business trip where authoritative european and german manufacturers and distributors of woodworking machinery, tools, software, facade manufacturers were invited and attended. Apart from Homag, the world's largest machine manufacturer, other companies were with us including Weinig from Tauberbischhofsheim, Leitz South Africa, an authoritative tool supplier, the Martin Company from Ottobeuren, Dr. Keller from Mannheim, the Klaes firm of Ahrweiler and the Anders firm, the second largest Schüco processors from Germany. Contacts were made to Rwandan businesses, educational institutions, universities and research institutes. The RDB presented potential companies in Rwanda impressively. A trip was taken to the new free trade zone. The PSF even organized a business dinner at the Top Tower Hotel in Kigali. Many of the leading companies in Rwanda had the opportunity to exchange views with the German participants of the trip. There was a lively discussion on economic cooperation and education transfer. One idea was a new german-rwandan wood and timber information and training center in Kigali with a showroom and training rooms with the latest woodworking and wood processing technology from Germany.

After this trip a sustainable process has begun through the activities of the DGD (Deutscher Gemeinschafts- und Diakonieverband) with the building of a new school in Rubengera. The director Tim Bluthardt contacted Dittmar Siebert in the woodworking school and there was an intense exchange about sustainable processes in the development and establishment of effective wood vocational training in Rwanda. Dittmar Siebert was then decisively involved in establishing contact to the Martin Company to acquire the excellent woodworking machinery used in this new school. In addition, a slow process is beginningwhere high quality machines, tools and supplies are imported from the german wood industry to Rwanda.

As you can clearly see from this example, it is the intention of Siebert Engineering to deliver high-quality consulting in this area. This is reflected in the fact that real sustainable solutions and processes which are really effective and helpful in the regions are provided. This will only work on par with the respective companies and local decision-makers and professionals in the country. Sustainable processes are not relief shipments but instead the creation of self-supporting business contacts and self-financing educational cooperation. The potential in this area, especially with respect to Africa, has by far not been exhausted. Africa needs german business contacts and Germany also needs Africa as long-term business contacts and partners.

Siebert Engineering is actively involved in european and international countries. You need to find a powerful, professionally competent consultant in this area. So do not hesitate and contact us today.
